Harvesting Hope with the Hunger Task Force

When was the last time you took a deep breath in nature? When was the last time you took a deep breath in nature while giving back to the community with all of your coworkers? For the Brilliance team, it was today, when we spent the morning harvesting 836 pounds of zucchini at the Hunger Task Force Farm.

When was the last time you took a deep breath in nature? When was the last time you took a deep breath in nature while giving back to the community with all of your coworkers? For the Brilliance team, it was today, when we spent the morning harvesting 836 pounds of zucchini at the Hunger Task Force Farm.

The Farm is a unique 208-acre urban farm in the suburb of Franklin. During the growing season, The Farm infuses half a million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables into our food bank’s supply, enhancing the nutrition of those who normally rely on canned or nonperishable foods.

Hunger Task Force Farmers grow a variety of different produce, including peppers, tomatoes, corn, watermelon, beans, spinach, greens, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, pears and more. Last year, Hunger Task Force delivered more than 9 million pounds of food to serve Milwaukee’s hungry.

At Brilliance, one of our Values is “Wholehearted”. We practice this value by regularly volunteering at various organizations that are doing amazing and very important work in our community. The Hunger Task Force is definitely one of our favorite volunteer opportunities! We previously volunteered at the Farm in 2016 and last year

One of our company rituals that I love is our team service projects that we do three times a year. It is one of the ways that we live out our value of being wholehearted. It is great to serve our community together. I think it is healing to our soul and strengthens our relationships with each other. Great day today!,” said Lori McDonald, Brilliance’s President & CEO.
