Our Hiring Process

Our hiring process starts with an application through HiringSteps.com

You will be asked to answer some written questions online and then attach your resume.

You will receive an application confirmation email with instructions on listening to and answering a few questions.

Why is your hiring process so strange?

We get this question a lot.  :-)  Interestingly, almost everyone who has been through our hiring process tells us how much they like it and found the process valuable.

At Brilliance, we believe that hiring a culture fit is more important than finding a skills match.  Our team is made up of outstanding individuals who are not only extremely talented in their skill set, but are committed to going the extra mile for our customers and for each other.  We want people whose values match ours and who find what we are working towards exciting.

We have found that the best way to find people who are a match for our culture is with a rather unconventional process.

Why leave an audio message?

We ask applicants to leave us an audio message. This gives us a chance to hear from you. We get to hear why you believe you are the right fit for what we are doing and why you want to be a part of our team.  We get to hear your excitement. This is 10x more valuable than looking at your resume. A great looking resume doesn't mean much if it isn't backed by a candidate with the drive to be a part of our team.

What is a group interview?

If your message "wows" us, we will call you back and invite you to a group interview. What is that? It is our opportunity to share with you about Brilliance and to learn more about you. You will be in the room with the other top candidates who left us messages as well as a few people from our team. Yes, it can be a little awkward, but we work to make it as comfortable as possible. It is a 2-3 hour block of time on an evening where we will have refreshments and pizza. We spend the first hour telling you about our business - our history, our vision, our work, our values, and our goals for the position you are applying for. You get a chance to ask us questions. You get to decide if you are interested in continuing with our hiring process. We have a chance to ask you and the other candidates questions. Everyone will get a chance to answer every question we ask of you. Our goal of this step is not to find a skills match - but a culture match. We believe that is required before we go on to confirm the skills match.

Interestingly, almost every candidate who has come to the group interview notes how much they enjoy the experience and how much they found it interesting to meet the other candidates there.

What happens next?

If we find a culture match from the group interview, we will ask them to do a DISC profile and we will also invite them to a test drive. The DISC profile allows us to understand better your natural and adapted personality style and how you prefer to work with others. The test drive is 2-4 hours in our office, with you performing tasks that you will be doing in your position, so we can get a feel for how you work.

If we find a candidate who is a culture fit and excites us with their performance on the test drive, it's at that point that we make an offer.

If you are the type of person who loves the idea of working at a company where the culture is a top priority and you meet the requirements of one of the positions we have open, we hope you will consider applying to work at Brilliance!
