How can you get visitors to come back to your site on a frequent
basis? Web usability expert Jakob Nielsen identified 4 main reasons*:
- High-quality content
- Often updated
- Minimal download time
- Ease of use
To write high-quality content, you need to get in the mind of your
customer. What did they come to your site hoping to find? What information
would help them to make a better purchase decision? Brainstorm a
list of what information they might want to know or pass along to
their coworkers.
After you have a list of information, develop a plan for how you
can offer this information on your website. Do you want to have
a "Tip of the Week"? A collection of articles? Should you have a
different tip appear on your homepage each time a visitor returns
to your site?
Now all that is left to do is write the content! Not a simple task.
If you need help with this, your web designer may offer content
writing services or you can work with a copywriter. Even though
this process is time consuming, it can be very worthwhile!
Give your customers a reason to return to your site and purchase
your products and services!
Brainstorm a list of information your customer wants to know and
talk to your web designer about how to put this information on your
site.
